Lakeview Owner Making Additional Security Plans

The owner of La Ronge’s Lakeview Apartments says he has beefed up security at the building, where three people died recently after a fire was set on an upper floor.
Kelly Anderson says when his tenants move back in this weekend, they will notice something new: 14 security cameras, patrolling both the inside and the exterior of the building.
Anderson says that because of frequent vandalism at Lakeview, he had bought the cameras and had them at his home, with plans to install them the following weekend.
Instead, he was dealing with close to 90 homeless tenants, and the deaths of three people — including his nephew, Justin Paul Charles, Justin’s partner, Marsha McKenzie, and their four-month-old son, Jeremy.
The timing has hit Anderson hard, because he feels that had the security system been installed earlier, the incident — and its consequences — might have been prevented.
Anderson says that while health and fire officials have cleared the bottom three floors for re-occupancy, the floor where his nephew died will stay locked for the time being.
Construction on that floor is set to begin in mid-July.
