Labour Complaint Against NRT Dropped

The Teamsters union has withdrawn its unfair labour practice complaint against Northern Resource Trucking.

NRT received a letter from the Industrial Relations Board last week indicating the complaint has been dropped.

The complaint was launched late last year.

The Teamsters have been representing some truckers that work as independent contractors for NRT.

They’re trying to hammer out a collective bargaining agreement with NRT — which would be a first for the company.

No reason has been given as to why the complaint has been withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the labour board has received an application by some of the independent contractors to decertify the union.

A ruling is expected in the coming months.

NRT is jointly owned by several First Nations and other northern communities.
