A La Ronge woman is back home after spending a week in horrifying conditions in New Orleans.

Jill Johnson is one of five Saskatchewan people who managed to get out of the city in the last few days.

She was on vacation in New Orleans with Larry Mitzel of Saskatoon and Eugene Herman of Regina when Katrina hit.

After being forced from their hotel, they wandered the streets for several days before eventually finding an evacuation point.

They were taken to Atlanta, and then booked their own flights back to Saskatchewan.
