La Ronge Signs Onto Natural Gas

SaskEnergy is set to announce that La Ronge will be the latest community in our province to sign onto natural gas.

The official announcement will come today at 3:00.

Close to 800 homeowners, businesses as well as the Lac La Ronge Indian Band have signed up for the service.

Last month SaskEnergy told residents natural gas could be theirs if at least 500 customers told them they would use the service.

Sources have told MBC that goal was reached when the Lac La Ronge Indian Band stepped forward at the last minute.

The total cost of extending pipelines from the current northern limit of Montreal Lake is 20.8 million dollars.

The government along with SaskEnergy is providing 14 million dollars of that amount with the rest to come from residents and local businesses.

Today’s announcement will take place in the North Central Helicopter building in La Ronge.
