Organizers of local fundraising in La Ronge for the Red Cross south Asian tsunami relief efforts are pleased with the response they got from La Ronge residents.

In addition to the donation boxes around town, the fundraising included a community yard sale and a couple of raffles.

A total of $3,850 was raised through these initiatives and submitted to the Red Cross yesterday.

Including the matching dollars from the federal government, the total contributed to the relief efforts will be $7,700.

Organizers in La Ronge want to thank everyone who donated money to the cause, and also want to remind the public that help is still desperately needed.
