La Ronge RCMP Promise Transparent Investigation

The commanding officer of the La Ronge RCMP says the Mounties are trying to be as transparent as possible regarding the ongoing investigation of a member of the detachment.
A complaint was recently filed against an officer with the force by a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
The complaint was serious enough to warrant an investigation by both the local RCMP and the FSIN’s Special Investigations Unit.
Staff Sergeant Kirk Munrow says the investigation is ongoing and won’t release specifics of the complaint for fear of biasing potential witnesses.
Munrow says the local RCMP began its investigation before it was contacted by the FSIN.
The officer in question has not been disciplined, but Munrow says the La Ronge RCMP is committed to keeping the public updated on the progress of the investigation.
He says the information collected by the force will be referred to Saskatchewan Justice.
Following that, the RCMP will begin its own separate review based on the force’s code of conduct.
