La Ronge RCMP Apprehend Escapees

La Ronge RCMP successfully apprehended two escapees early Saturday morning after an extensive search of La Ronge and area.

33-year-old Gilbert Frederick Robillard of Black Lake and 26-year-old Tom Floyd Cook of La Ronge escaped on foot last Wednesday, while being escorted with other prisoners into the La Ronge Provincial Court House.

Just after 4 am Saturday, RCMP acted on a tip from the public and executed a warrant at an apartment block and apprehended Gilbert Robillard without incident.

Within hours, RCMP apprehended Cook following a brief vehicle and foot pursuit in a wooded area approximately 10 kilometers south of La Ronge.

The two men are facing multiple charges, including escaping lawful custody and are to appear in provincial court this (Monday) morning.
