La Ronge resident Earl Cook has announced his intention to run for the NDP nomination in the Churchill River riding in next year’s anticipated federal election.

The long-time civil servant made the announcement today in La Ronge at a function attended by Saskatchewan NDP leader Lorne Calvert.

The Churchill River seat in the House of Commons is currently occupied by Liberal MP Rick Laliberte of Beauval.

Meadow Lake resident Jeremy Harrison has already been nominated as the Canadian Alliance candidate and will represent the new Conservative Party of Canada when the Tory-Alliance merger becomes official.
