The creation of northern Saskatchewan’s first regional waste authority was made official yesterday.

The Lac La Ronge Regional Waste Authority represents the town of La Ronge, the village of Air Ronge, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and a number of small nearby communities.

An official signing ceremony was held yesterday in La Ronge.

The authority is handling the consolidation of municipal waste management for the area.

Last year, the group received over 119-thousand dollars from the province to help purchase collection and recycling equipment.
