La Ronge EMS Workers Ponder Job Action

A strike could possibly be in the cards for unionized workers at La Ronge Emergency Medical Services.

Although the company’s owner, Eric Bell, is apparently on side with the workers in their demand for better wages and benefits, he still needs a committment from the Mamawetan Churchill River Health Authority before any adjustments are made.

Health Services Association of Saskatchewan spokesman Kevin Glass says the workers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of job action to protest the economic disparity between themselves and employees at the health authority.

Glass says the well-being of patients could suffer if the situation isn’t addressed in the near future.
