La Ronge Burning Suspect Pleads “Not Guilty”

The 12-year-old girl accused of setting fire to a 26-year-old La Ronge woman in April entered a “not guilty” plea in La Ronge Provincial Court this morning.

 

The suspect, who cannot be identified because of her age, had her lawyer speak on her behalf.

 

The girl allegedly set fire to a local woman while she was passed out behind a local business in downtown La Ronge.

 

The woman suffered third degree burns to more than half of her body and was last reported recovering at a specialized burn unit in Edmonton.

 

The youth, who has been under a 24-hour undertaking since her release, is facing an aggravated assault charge in the matter.

 

Her trial begins November 21st in La Ronge. It is expected to last at least three days.
