La Ronge Area To Have Natural Gas This Winter

A spokesman for SaskEnergy says some residents in La Ronge should be able to heat their homes with natural gas this winter.
Dave Burdeniuk says natural gas service for the village of Air Ronge, as well as some businesses in La Ronge and portions of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s area reserves should be switched on before the cold weather sets in.
He adds any reserve communities in the area that aren’t included in the initial start-up could be included later on down the road.
“If there are communities that we don’t serve right now, they can still give us a call, and in a smaller centre we may just need a few more of their neighbours to sign up, and we can justify the business case for bringing gas down that street or to that smaller community.”
Customers in Weyakwin and Ramsey Bay have had the service since November.
