The community of La Loche has once again laid claim to the title of northern Saskatchewan’s reading capital.

La Loche has won the Northern Reading Challenge for the second year in a row, beating out close to 30 other northern communities for the distinction.

The competition sees points awarded for every book read. The winning community is determined by calculating which community recorded the most points per capita.

The reading challenge is the centrepiece of the annual Northern Reading Program, which encourages northern residents to use the cold winter weather in January and February as an excuse to catch up on their reading.
