La Loche Residents Wary Of Phone Scam

At least one resident lost $1900 after falling victim to a fraud scheme in the La Loche area.

RCMP says a man has been phoning people in the area claiming to be a representative of a local band.

The man tells residents he would like to purchase the item they’re selling but needs some cash up front to finish the deal.

RCMP Sgt. Brad Kaeding says residents should be wary and use common sense when making any sale that sounds suspicious.

Kaeding says attempts have also been made in the Meadow Lake and North Battleford areas.
