The northern community of La Loche is being recognized by the International Reading Association for its exemplary reading program.

The association awards one winner from each province and state and La Loche Community School vice principal Mark Willament says they knew they had a shot at taking top honors after winning the recent Northern Reading Challenge.

Willament also says the community made a determined effort to meet the criteria required by the association to win the award.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in Reno, Nevada on May 2nd.

Meanwhile, La Loche will be officially recognized for being the “Readingest Community in Northern Saskatchewan” at a ceremony tomorrow at the local elementary school.
