La Loche Election Recount Into Third Day

At last word, they were still counting ballots from the La Loche election in Battleford.

The process started Monday, but a clerk at Court of Queen’s Bench says they hope to finish at some point this afternoon.

On October 4th, incumbent mayor Georgina Jolibois defeated challenger John Janvier by 15 ballots to win the contest.

However, the outcome was disputed, prompting a judge to order a recount.

Two unsuccessful candidates for council also asked for the recount.
