RCMP say they’re investigating allegations that a three-year-old girl was sexually assaulted last month on a reserve north of Saskatoon.

Cpl. Tim Korman, a spokesman for the RCMP detachment in Blaine Lake, says some of the potential suspects they’ve questioned in the alleged Sept. 14th incident are under the age of 12.

Police are also questioning several other people who live on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.

Korman says it’s too early to say whether charges could be laid, but investigators hope to have their investigation completed soon.

Anyone under 12 who has committed a crime is not eligible to be charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Korman says, instead, the matter is usually referred to child and family services.
