The Keewatin Yatthe Regional Health Authority will soon be looking for a new CEO.

Current chief executive officer Carol Gillis has announced her resignation, effective October 31st.

Gillis has been with the Buffalo Narrows-based health region since its inception in 1998, serving as corporate services director until she took over as CEO in 2001.

Health region spokesman Richard Petit says Gillis was also instrumental in the creation of the health region when she served as a consultant with Saskatchewan Health.

According to Petit, Gillis is stepping aside to spend more time with her young family.

Board chair David Seright says Gillis has served the people of northwest Saskatchewan admirably and with heart.
