Justice experts are sitting down in Prince Albert today with community leaders from the Far North and the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.
They are discussing crime prevention strategies and other issues needed to make communities safer.
National Crime Prevention Centre coordinator Carol Connolly says alternative measures and other tactics only work if the community is committed to them.
She adds the conference is aimed at reducing the feeling of isolation many communities feel when it comes to justice issues.
