Testimony in the inquest into the death of 38 year old Shaun Martinot has wrapped up and jury deliberations are set to begin today in La Ronge.

It was on August 29th, 2004, that Martinot began a 17 hour standoff with RCMP at a hotel on La Ronge Avenue.

Ultimately, Martinot was killed by the Emergency Response Team on site after he emerged from his residence in the hotel.

It was found at the inquest from the coroner who performed the autopsy on Martinot that he sustained a total of 16 gunshot wounds.

Martinot was also believed to be taking anti-depressants and drinking heavily in the days leading up to the standoff.
