Judge Bird To Face Trial On Assault Charge

Trial dates have been set for a Meadow Lake Provincial Court judge facing four charges, including assault.
The trial for Judge Donald Bird will take place February 22nd to 27th in Court of Queen’s Bench, Battleford, sitting as Provincial Court.
Madam Justice A.R. Rothery set those dates today in Court of Queen’s Bench, Battleford.
Judge Bird faces a total of four charges: two counts of common assault and two counts of uttering threats.
Those charges arose from allegations made last May.
A ban on having weapons was changed to allow Judge Bird to hunt.
He can have firearms from September 1st to December 22nd.
Judge Bird is represented by Sy Halyk of Saskatoon. The Crown is represented by an Alberta prosecutor, Anders Quist.
