A familiar name is back in charge at the Hatchet Lake First Nation.

Louis Josie was elected chief of the Far North band in a byelection held on Friday.

Josie defeated fellow candidate Charlie Denechezhe by a vote count of 188 to 141.

Josie previously served as chief in Wollaston Lake in 2000 and 2001.

Friday’s byelection was called after former chief Angus Joseyounen was forced out of office.

Josie will serve as chief until May, which is when Joseyounen’s three-year term was originally set to expire.
