The chief of a northern First Nation has been elected to a new term in office.
Chief Leslie Crookedneck defeated four challengers in the Island Lake First Nation’s chief and council election on Wednesday.
The band council features a few new faces. Dorothy Crookedneck, Dexter Crookedneck and Melvin Paddy are all newcomers to council.
Don Brownhat and Bryan Crookedneck are the only holdovers from the previous council.
