Inquest Held Into 2004 La Ronge Standoff

The Provincial Court House in La Ronge will be the scene of an inquest examining the violent death of a local man in 2004.

38 year-old Shawn Martinot died during an armed stand-off with police back on August 30th,2004.

It was shortly before then, he walked through the lobby of the Northlands’ Hotel with a rifle and staged a 17-hour stand off with local officers. He was ultimately shot after approaching officers brandishing a rifle.

The inquest will take place May 30th to June 2nd in La Ronge.

The hearing is open to the public.
