A senior health official with Indian Affairs gave the Prince Albert/Parkland Regional Health Authority a snapshot into the future yesterday.

Jean-Francois Tremblay outlined some of his department¹s plans for how it hopes to integrate service delivery for First Nations with the regional health districts.

Tremblay explained the department needs to maximize as many of its services as possible and duplication of them will not be accepted.

Tremblay said the plan will impact First Nations across the province.

He also said the department will encourage them to submit proposals on how the integration of services could best happen.

One official from Muskeg Lake questioned the plan, saying the mere mention of the word “integration” worried her.

Tremblay responded by saying that the plan would encourage participation on both sides and wouldn’t be a green light for Ottawa to impose its will on First Nations.
