Indian Affairs Minister Opposes Cuthand Column

Canada’s Indian Affairs Minister is disputing a recent column in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix.

Chuck Strahl says Doug Cuthand’s most recent article about the residential school settlement is inaccurate.

The minister says Cuthand based much of his column on a story in the Montreal Gazette that suggests the Tories have been dipping into the Residential School Settlement Fund.

He insists that’s not the case and the story is flat out wrong.

Strahl claims $82.6 million has been sent out to elderly residential school students in advance payments, and the rest is on the way.
