Indian Affairs Declares Awasis Chief

Indian Affairs says it has now decided to acknowledge Dale Awasis as Chief of the Thunderchild First Nation.

INAC spokesman Trevor Sutter says the decision was made earlier this week based on careful observation and deliberation.

Sutter says a tribunal appeal hearing will be heard on the reserve in a few weeks time.

Until that happens they will consider Awasis to be the chief.
