Precautionary measures have been put in place to bring the water levels down on the flooded La Plonge River near Beauval.

Saskatchewan Watershed Authority spokesman Don Dill says an investigative team was sent into the region on Friday, and the dam on Lac La Plonge was closed off yesterday to help reduce the water flow.

Dill explains the water levels were rising because of a build-up of ice in the river system, but a backhoe helped break up and clear away the ice.

He says the water is now running back in the river channel and no longer over area roads.

Dill is also reminding residents to be aware of the dangers in the area and to practice extreme caution.
