La Ronge Mayor Joe Hordyski is outlining his objectives should he win the Saskatchewan Party nomination in the vacant Cumberland riding.

Hordyski says he hopes to see northerners benefit as much as possible from the economic activity in the North, while protecting the environment throughout the development.

He adds that something also needs to be done about roads in the area in order to enhance tourism and ensure public safety.

Hordyski says if he is eventually nominated as the SaskParty candidate, he doesn’t think his work as mayor will have any negative impact on the outcome of the upcoming by-election.

At last word, there were at least three other people interested in becoming the Saskatchewan Party candidate.

Premier Brad Wall has yet to announce when a by-election will be held.
