Home Repair Funds A Little More Accessible

Northerners with low incomes are being given a chance to access some new provincial housing money.
Earlier this week, the government took the wraps off a new initiative that could see northern homeowners qualify for as much as $9,000 towards fix up their houses.
Saskatchewan Emergency Repair Program spokesman Tim Gross says roofs, walls, heating appliances and plumbing are all eligible for repair under the plan.
Gross says the program also takes into account the higher cost of living in northern Saskatchewan, as northern residents can qualify for more money than those in the rest of the province.
The program is geared towards residents living in communities of 2,500 people or more.
However, Gross notes a comparable offer is available to smaller settlements, as well.
