The acting C.E.O. of the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority has been appointed to sit on the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region board.
Angelique Haysom says the posting shouldn’t affect her current duties in the North, but will allow her to gain a better sense of how health problems are affecting people in each region.
She says diabetes is one concern that both Prince Albert and the North are grappling with. However, she notes it is certainly not the only health issue common to both regions.
Haysom says much of her focus will centre around ways of preventing diseases and illnesses rather than just treating them.
At the same time, she says she realizes people in isolated communities often find treatment hard to come by, and their needs must be met, too.
