Band members in Wollaston Lake are sticking with Chief Louie Josie.

Josie was declared the winner of the Hatchet Lake First Nation’s chief election last night.

The incumbent received 220 votes in yesterday’s second ballot, almost twice as much as his nearest competitor.

Josie received the most votes on Tuesday’s first ballot, but a second day of voting was required because he didn’t capture the required majority.

Hatchet Lake is one of the few bands in the province that requires its chief to receive a majority of votes.

Josie will serve a two-year term in office.
