The president of the First Nations University of Canada is among 14 people who will be honoured at the upcoming National Aboriginal Achievement Awards.

Dr. Eber Hampton lives in Regina, but is a member of the Chickasaw Tribe of Oklahoma.

Hampton will be honoured in the Education category.

Hampton isn’t the only person with Saskatchewan connections that will be given an award — well-known artist and museum curator Dr. Gerald McMaster of the Red Pheasant First Nation will be presented with one of the Arts and Culture awards.

The awards show will take place at Saskatoon’s Centennial Auditorium on March 31st.

The ceremony will be broadcast on the CBC and on APTN.
