Growing Demand For Beaver Pelts

An analyst in the fur industry says prices for beaver pelts should remain strong over the next few years.
North American Fur Auctions spokesman Dave Bewick says prices for beaver are currently up 50 to 60 per cent from last season.
He says part of the hike can be attributed to a sudden realization by manufacturers about how easy it is to work with the pelt, and all the different colours and shapes it can attain.
He adds supply and demand are both remaining steady.
Beaver pelts are considered the staple of the trapping industry.
But Bewick says he expects the entire fur industry to get stronger over the next few years.
