The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is turning to an outside agency to help it win compensation for survivors of the Timber Bay Children’s Home.

Elders without Border is a non-profit corporation that has been lobbying on behalf of aboriginal people since 1999.

A lawyer for the group says the federal government’s recent rejection of the school’s eligibility for the compensation list means a court-procedure is now open.

Michael Swinwood says Elders without Borders is tired of seeing countless survivors wait for the compensation that’s owed to them.

Swinwood says the organization also had dealings with former band-worker Jake Tootoosis who looked after the file until his sudden passing last year.
