Group Home Re-Opens Under First Nations Control

The province’s minister of Community Resources says the Four Directions group home is still under the oversight of a First Nations-appointed board of directors.
The provincial government recently re-opened the facility after closing it down in April due to concerns over how it was being run.
Kevin Yates says a lot of re-training has been done to make sure staff know what their duties are and how the home needs to operate.
But he insists the facility’s governance structure hasn’t been affected.
Yates adds poor communication may have been a contributing factor in the problems that led to the home’s temporary shutdown.
The facility is situated on the Muskowekwan First Nation near Yorkton and gives struggling teenagers a place to stay when they need help.
