Grisly Details Heard At Sturgeon Lake Murder Trial

A 12-member jury in Prince Albert viewed graphic video yesterday of a deceased woman’s home on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
One of the jurors was visibly upset as RCMP investigators replayed images they collected a day after 28-year-old Leslie Longjohn was rushed to hospital with fatal head injuries.
Court heard that blood stains were evident throughout much of the house — and that a box wrench, also bloodied, was found in a field outside.
One of the lead investigators testified that men’s pants, socks and boots with blood on them were also seized from the home.
It was in late October of 2006 that police responded to reports of a disturbance on the reserve.
They eventually arrested 37-year-old Rick Ermine.
He faces one count of second-degree murder.
The trial is slated to continue into next week.
