The provincial government is holding consultation sessions in Beauval and Air Ronge next week about its plans to create at least two new Enterprise Regions in northern Saskatchewan.

The new regions will allow stakeholders in the community to help shape the areas into high-performing economic regions.

First Nations and Metis Relations Minister June Draude says the government needs input from local residents about both natural and human resources in their regions, and see what should be promoted.

Draude says the goal will be to expand economic opportunities in the regions, get people more involved in building the economy, and create jobs.

The public meetings are just the first stage of a process the ministry is following to implement the northern regions.

The first meeting will be held Tuesday in Beauval at the community’s arena mezzanine, from 7 until 9 p.m..

The second is being held on Thursday in the Air Ronge Elks’ Hall. That meeting also runs from 7 to 9 p.m..
