The provincial government has restored funding to the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan.

It amounts to $385,000 over the next six months for basic operations, and policy and research functions.

The funding was cut off shortly after the controversial MNS election in 2004.

MNS president Robert Doucette came to power in a vote held under stricter controls in late June.

Doucette says he wasn’t suprised that it took the province three months to restore the funding, noting the “wheels of government” turn slowly.

He says the federal government has also restored funding to his group.

According to Doucette, Ottawa is coming through with $405,000 over the next six months.
