Government Honours First Nations War Veteran

The founder of the Saskatchewan First Nations Summer Games was one of eight people given the province’s highest honour yesterday.

 

Tony Cote is an elder, First Nations war veteran and former chief of the Cote First Nation.

 

He has been invested into the Saskatchewan Order of Merit.

 

Cote also helped found the First Nations University of Canada, the Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Centre and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies.

 

He has also held several senior positions at the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.
