Finance Minister Ralph Goodale made appearances in Buffalo Narrows and Meadow Lake over the weekend in a bid to boost the campaign of local Liberal candidate Gary Merasty.
Merasty says his discussions with Goodale included talking about ways to ensure Metis residential school survivors in Ile-a-la-Crosse are included in any settlement arrangement.
Merasty says he and Goodale also discussed new Liberal policy announcements on funding for seniors and the disabled. He says they had a dialogue about how the measures could be implemented in northern Saskatchewan, taking into account the unique needs of northerners.
Merasty is campaigning today in Southend and Grandmother’s Bay.
