Police in Meadow Lake are on the lookout for an older model red Dodge pickup truck following what appears to be an attempted child abduction.

At about midnight Saturday, a 12-year-old girl was riding her bicycle in the community’s downtown area when a man approached her, grabbed her wrists and tried to force her into his vehicle.

The girl was able to fight the man off and escape without injury.

Constable Jennifer Armstrong with the Meadow Lake RCMP says police are now on the lookout for the suspect, who is described as an Aboriginal male, 5’9″ to 5’11” in height, with a medium build, short black hair, and a dark moustache.

He was wearing a black muscle shirt, dark pants, and a dark hat.

The RCMP say the pickup had a few rust marks on it, and one of the headlights on the truck appeared to have been burnt out.
