A 12-year-old girl implicated in an incident in La Ronge that saw a 26-year-old woman severely burned will remain in custody until her next court appearance.

The girl, who cannot be named because of provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, made her first appearance in youth court in La Ronge yesterday on a charge of aggravated assault.

She was arrested Friday afternoon after the RCMP sought the public’s assistance in the case.

The victim received serious burns on the evening of April 24th, and was found by passersby behind a business in downtown La Ronge.

At last word, she was receiving care for her injuries in an Edmonton hospital.

The suspect will next appear in court this Thursday for a bail hearing.
