A special fundraiser for the families of missing Aboriginal women was held in Regina last night.
The banquet was hosted by the Saskatchewan First Nations Women’s Secretariat on the occasion of First Nations Women’s Day.
Spokeswoman Erica Beaudin says her group wanted to do something for the mothers of missing women in the province – many of whom have organized searches and rallies for their daughters.
Beaudin says the money raised will go towards a fund that can be used by families to help finance search efforts.
Premier Lorne Calvert and members of his cabinet were on hand for last night’s banquet.
