Seven communities in northern Saskatchewan are taking advantage of federal and provincial funding to address their housing needs.
A total of 46 affordable housing units are being built in Beauval, Green Lake, Buffalo Narrows, La Loche, Pinehouse, Stony Rapids and Creighton.
They’re doing it with the help of the Centenary Affordable Housing Program, which is kicking in $2.1 million to the projects. The La Loche initiative is also getting $1.35 million over two years under Ottawa’s National Homelessness Initiative.
A total of 36 affordable rental units are being created in La Loche, Stony Rapids and Creighton.
The other four communities are building single homeowner units.
The total cost of all the projects is estimated to be $4.4 million.
