The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations has signed a memorandum of understanding with an Alberta company interested in potash.

Representatives from Encanto Resources met with federation officials to sign the deal this morning in Regina.

The company says it is interested in exploring land on 17 reserves in the Qu’Appelle Valley region.

FSIN Vice-Chief Morley Watson says the MOU makes it clear bands want training and jobs if potash is found on their land.

The deal includes provisions for further negotiations and development of a joint venture agreement.

Watson says they’re looking at a time frame of three to five years.
