The federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is rejecting the provincial government’s consultation policy framework.

On December 22nd the province released a tentative plan for how things should work when companies want to develop on traditional first nations land.

FSIN vice-chief Delbert Wapass says the chiefs don’t like the framework however and want the government to go back to the drawing board.

For one, he says the province is dictating everything in the agreement, from deadlines to priorities.

He adds first nations want the province to realize treaty is the starting point for any framework.
