The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations appears willing to look further into the situation faced by the First Nations University of Canada in Regina.

A proposal has been made at this week’s FSIN spring legislative assembly in North Battleford that an independent task force be set up to deal with the band’s uncertain finances, as well as the grievances raised by students about the recent suspensions and firings at the school.

Some FNUC students from Saskatoon made the trip to North Battleford and tried unsuccessfully to be put on yesterday’s agenda at the assembly.

One of them, Jenny Gardipy, says students need reassurances that their education at the school will still be regarded in the way it has in the past.
