FSIN Opposed To Open Season On Ravens

The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says it wants to be consulted before any action is taken to control ravens.

Robin McLeod, a cultural policy analyst with the FSIN, says he worries the province may start an eradication campaign against the birds.

McLeod says he’s aware of reports that ravens are harming livestock and eating crops, but he wants to see the evidence first.

He also says humans should “not play the role of the Creator” by trying to exterminate a species.

The birds are currently on the province’s protected species list.

However, a government official recently confirmed that could change in the future.
