Elders, health officials and leaders within the First Nations community are discussing the ramifications of a possible flu pandemic today.

They have gathered in Saskatoon, along with government health officials, to discuss planning for the event.

While it is impossible to say when or if a worldwide flu outbreak will occur, several experts say the world is overdue for one, and planning is needed.

The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is hosting the two-day gathering in Saskatoon.

Federation officials say a pandemic regional plan is already in existence, but it needs more work.
